Aprendizaje a distancia sobre fundamentos de salud y seguridad: Spanish Language Version   ** NUEVO **

Este curso a distancia narrado de 5 horas proporciona información importante y estrategias para poder mejorar la seguridad y la salud de los niños en los programas de cuidado infantil con licencia y registro, y los programas de cuidado infantil exentos legalmente inscritos. Los proveedores de cuidado que completan este curso recibirán crédito de capacitación en los temas de salud y seguridad federales requeridos incluyendo:

  • la prevención y el control de enfermedades infecciosas, incluida la vacunación
  • la prevención del síndrome de muerte infantil súbita y el uso de prácticas de sueño seguro

El curso utiliza segmentos de video y ejercicios interactivos para acentuar los objetivos de aprendizaje.

Foundations in Health and Safety: English Language Version   ** NEW **

This fully narrated 5 hour e-Learning course offers important information and strategies to facilitate and improve the safety and health of children in regulated child care programs and enrolled legally exempt programs. Child care providers and caregivers completing this course will receive training credit in federally mandated Health and Safety topic areas which include:

  • Prevention and control of infectious diseases (including immunization)
  • Prevention of sudden infant death syndrome and use of safe sleeping practices
  • Administration of medication, consistent with standards for parental consent
  • Prevention and response to emergencies due to food and allergic reactions
  • Building and physical premises safety, including identification of and protection from hazards that can cause bodily injury such as electrical hazards, bodies of water, and vehicular traffic
  • Prevention of shaken baby syndrome and abusive head trauma
  • Emergency preparedness and response planning for emergencies resulting from a natural disaster, or a man-caused event
  • Handling and storage of hazardous materials and the appropriate disposal of biocontaminants
  • Appropriate precautions in transporting children, if applicable
  • Pediatric first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)
  • Other requirements relating to nutrition, access to physical activity, or any other subject area necessary to promote child development or to protect children's health and safety

Mandated Reporter Online Training

Mandated reporters can participate in this 2-hour web-based online training course at any time, 24/7. Once you begin, you will have 30 days to complete the course. In this Flash-based learning application, the existing OCFS curriculum was divided into smaller, more manageable sections. This allows users to save their progress at the end of each section--so they can complete it at their own pace, either in one sitting, or in multiple sessions. Users who log out after completing a section will automatically be returned to the end of their last completed section when they log back on to the training site. The course features interactive exercises that are customized for the major disciplines: Social Services, Education, Law Enforcement, Child Day Care and Medical. The course also addresses definitions, indicators, and how to make a report to the State Central Register. The application is full narrated and includes taped video segments that enhance the learning points. This course meets the New York State Education Department mandatory requirements for Training in Child Abuse Identification and Reporting.

This Mandated Reporter Online Training course fulfills the following OCFS training requirements:

  • Child abuse and maltreatment identification and prevention
  • Statutes and regulations pertaining to child abuse and maltreatment
  • Business record maintenance and management
