These regulations will help New York State fulfill the health and safety requirements set forth by the federal Child Care and Development Block Grant (CCDBG) that all licensed/registered and enrolled legally-exempt programs need to comply with by September 30, 2017. Safe Sleep for Your Baby. The New York State Office of Children and Family Services, in partnership with the Children and Family Trust Fund, recently developed a video titled "Safe Sleep for Your Baby." This video promotes safe sleeping practices for families with infants and young children. We encourage you to share this video with the families you serve. This video is part of a continuing OCFS initiative to reduce child fatalities where unsafe sleeping conditions are a factor. Governor Cuomo Announces $200 Million Available to Meet Healthcare and Human Service Needs Resulting from Superstorm Sandy Governor Andrew M. Cuomo today announced that $200 million is available to fund requests from healthcare and human service providers and other community-based organizations following the impact of Superstorm Sandy. The funding is made available by the Superstorm Sandy Supplemental Social Services Block Grant to cover necessary expenses resulting from the storm, including social, health and mental health services for individuals, and for repair, renovation and rebuilding of health care facilities, mental hygiene facilities, child care facilities and other social services facilities. To address the needs of these critical health and human service providers and the populations they serve, the State of New York will distribute $200,034,600 in federal Superstorm Sandy Social Services Block Grant (Sandy SSBG) funding through a public and transparent solicitation for proposals. Sandy SSBG resources are dedicated to covering necessary expenses resulting from Superstorm Sandy, including social, health and mental health services for individuals, and for repair, renovation and rebuilding of health care facilities, mental hygiene facilities, child care facilities and other social services facilities. New York will allocate Sandy SSBG funding to address four Focus Areas: A. Repair, renovation and rebuilding; B. Uncompensated operational costs, including provision of critical services during/after Superstorm Sandy; C. Ongoing support and social services for those impacted by Superstorm Sandy; and D. Let's Move Child Care Spanish Webinar - July 18th. On Thursday, July 18 from 2:00 - 3:00 pm EST the Let's Move Child Care Initiative will be hosting its first webinar in Spanish. This webinar will include Introduction to First Lady, Michelle Obama's, Let's Move Child Care for Spanish speakers. During this webinar early education and child care providers will share how they're getting kids moving, making nutrition fun, and involving families. So you can find out what's working for others and get ideas for your program. An expert from USDA will also be giving an overview of childhood obesity of the LMCC initiative and two providers will be joining to share their stories on how they're promoting nutrition and physical activity in their programs. Site list for Emergency Preparedness Videoconference: Thursday, December 20, 2012, 6:45 PM to 9:15 PM. The "Emergency Preparedness" Videoconference has been rescheduled for December 20, 2012 from 6:45 PM to 9:15 PM. If you were registered to attend this training originally planned for November 15, 2012 you will automatically be rescheduled for the new date, if the site is able to host. You will also be receiving a reminder postcard in the mail indicating whether or not your site is hosting and that you have been confirmed to attend.
