Comprehensive Background Checks
Beginning September 25th, 2019 child care providers in a child day care center, small day care center, school-age child care program, group family day care home, or family day care will be subject to comprehensive background checks.
On April 1, 2019 New York State passed legislation which gave the Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS) the authority to implement new statutory federal Child Care Development Block Grant Act of 2014 (CCDBG).
This legislation has laid the ground work for new regulations. The changes to the child day care regulations are necessary to implement new statutory requirements pursuant to the federal Child Care and Development Block Grant Act (CCDBG) of 2014 and corresponding changes to the New York States Social Services Law (SSL).
These videos help child care providers understand how to satisfy the new requirements.
