Childcare providers can participate in this 2 hour web-based online training course at any time, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

During this fully narrated course trainees will learn important information pertaining to the importance of combating the childhood obesity epidemic by providing young children with many opportunities for active play, reducing the amount of screen time they get, and providing them with healthy food choices. Learning points of the training are enhanced throughout using video clips and interactive exercises.

As you complete each 10-15 minute section, the application saves your progress and allows you up to 30 days to complete the entire course. The self-directed online course “Obesity Prevention” fulfills the following OCFS training requirements:

  • Nutrition and health needs of infants and children

This training also fulfills the following CDA Content Areas:

As you complete each 10-15 minute section, the application saves your progress and allows you up to 30 days to complete the entire course. The self-directed online course “Emergency Preparedness” fulfills the following OCFS training requirements:

  • Safety and security procedures, including communication between parents and staff
  • Statutes and regulations pertaining to child day care

Early Intervention

During this fully narrated course trainees will learn important information pertaining to resources available to them, including the New York State Department of Health’s Early Intervention Program that may be helpful when working with a child from birth to three years old who is exhibiting atypical behavior for their age or stage of development. Learning points of the training are enhanced throughout using video clips and interactive exercises.

As you complete each 10-15 minute section, the application saves your progress and allows you up to 30 days to complete the entire course. The self-directed online course “Early Intervention” fulfills the following OCFS training requirements:

  • Principles of childhood development, focusing on the developmental stages of the age groups for which the program provides care
  • Safety and security procedures, including communication between parents and staff

This training also fulfills the following CDA Content Areas:

  • Principles of child development and learning
  • Positive ways to support children’s social and emotional development

Mandated Reporter Online Training

Mandated reporters can participate in this 2-hour web-based online training course at any time, 24/7. Once you begin, you will have 30 days to complete the course. In this Flash-based learning application, the existing OCFS curriculum was divided into smaller, more manageable sections. This allows users to save their progress at the end of each section--so they can complete it at their own pace, either in one sitting, or in multiple sessions. Users who log out after completing a section will automatically be returned to the end of their last completed section when they log back on to the training site. The course features interactive exercises that are customized for the major disciplines: Social Services, Education, Law Enforcement, Child Day Care and Medical. The course also addresses definitions, indicators, and how to make a report to the State Central Register. The application is full narrated and includes taped video segments that enhance the learning points. This course meets the New York State Education Department mandatory requirements for Training in Child Abuse Identification and Reporting.

This Mandated Reporter Online Training course fulfills the following OCFS training requirements:

  • Child abuse and maltreatment identification and prevention
  • Statutes and regulations pertaining to child abuse and maltreatment
  • Business record maintenance and management
